The primary function of an independent juror is to protect people from tyrannical abuses of power by government. The Constitution guarantees the protection of the people’s right to trial by jury. This means that the government must bring its case before The People if it wants to deprive anyone of their life, liberty, or property. Jurors can say “NO” to government by refusing to convict.
It is the duty and obligation of anyone called for jury duty to know his/her rights and to exercise them. The people’s last bastion of justice is a trial by a jury of his peers.
No Victim, No Crime
FIJA works to:
• Inform potential jurors of their traditional, legal authority to refuse to enforce unjust laws
• Inform potential jurors that they cannot be required to check their consciences at the courthouse door
• Inform potential jurors that they cannot be punished for their verdicts
• Inform everyone that juror veto—jury nullification—is a peaceful way to protect human rights against corrupt politicians and government tyranny
“Go to Trial: Crash the Justice System! What would happen if hundreds of thousands of people charged with crimes refused to play the game insisted on their Sixth Amendment right to trial?”
